Medved Harrier Games
A Modern Twist on an Ancient Pursuit
Inspired by the 19th-century English school game of “Hares and Hounds,” Medved’s Harrier Games reimagines the spirit of cross-country running.
In this time-honored tradition “hounds” chase “hares” along a trail marked by cryptic clues. Runners confront the beauty of true cross-country terrain: treacherous root-laden woodlands, muddy fields, river crossings of uncertain depth, and the ever-present challenge of navigation.
Our Story:
The Harrier Games began in 2014 with a simple idea: a challenging training run for the Tuesday night group in Pittsford. Mort Nace devised the first checkpoint list, and the rest, as they say, is history.
