
Nestled in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York, the tiny town of Savannah — home to a population of just over 1,700 year-round residents — is set to play host to the Montezuma Half Marathon & 5K in late June this year. A race that will take runners along country roads and the grassy trails into the Howland Island Unit of the Northern Montezuma Wildlife Management Area (about 1/3 of the race course).
This race will benefit the important work and efforts of the Friends of the Montezuma Wetlands Complex. The Friends of the Montezuma Wetlands Complex support habitat restoration & public use at The Montezuma Wetlands Complex in upstate New York.
1/2 Marathon
The Half Marathon course will combine country roads (2/3) and a wildnerness trail (1/3) though Howland Island’s Wildlife Refuge Area. The race will start and finish at the beautiful Montezuma Aububon Center affectionately known in the region as “The MAC”

The new 5K course will take place on the trails behind the MAC that will both challenge and reward the senses.
