• 5K Family Fun Run starts at 8 am
• 10K Race starts at 9 am

 Directions and Parking Information

• Take I-90 to I-390 North;  exit at East Henrietta Road, turn north (right) on East Henrietta Road, continue north and bear right at South Avenue;  cross Elmwood Avenue;  Highland Park is on the right.
• Free parking will be available in the Goodman Street and Elmwood Avenue Festival lots until race start.

Race Amenities

• Medved Lilac T Shirts to the first 1500 entrants
• Post race food and refreshments
• Digital display clock at 1 mile, 5K, 5 mile and finish
• Water stops at 2 and 4 miles
• Splits every mile and at 5K
• Computerized race results by PCR Timing

Race Course

The 10K course will start near the Cornell Cooperative Building on Highland.  The 5K course will also start and finish on Highland Avenue.  Both courses are certified to be accurate by USA Track & Field.             

Pre Registration Info 

• $20 if postmarked or registered on line by May 16, 2012
• $20 if registered in person at Medved prior to race day
• $25 if registered on race day
• SPECIAL FAMILY RATE:  Families of 4 or more may deduct $2 from each entry;  Entries must be submitted together
• 10K & 5K SPECIAL:  Run both distances for $30 pre registered;  $35 on race day

The Rochester Plaza Hotel and Conference Center (70 State Street, Rochester, NY) is the Official Hotel of the Medved Lilac 10K & 5K Family Fun Run.

10K/5K Training Group

Do you want to run this year's races but need a little extra help getting ready?  Can you finish a 5K but want to take your running to the next level? 

Packet Pick Up Info

• Available at Medved Running and Walking Outfitters (3400 Monroe Avenue) Friday May 18th from 10 am to 9 pm and Saturday May 19th from 10 am to 5 pm
• Race Day Registration and packet pick up will begin at 7 am at the Cornell Co Op Extension Building, 249 Highland Avenue.

10K Awards

Total purse for this year's race is $3400 to be distributed as follows:

• 1st:    $600
• 2nd:   $400
• 3rd:    $275
• 4th:    $150
• 5th:    $100
• Masters (M/F 40+):   $125
• Age Group Winners receive a Medved Gift Certificate and a pair of Thorlo socks.

USA Track and Field Niagara Association 10K Championship 

The Medved Lilac 10K will once again serve as the USA Track and Field Niagara Association Open and Masters 10K Championship.  In addition to the monetary awards set forth above, USA Track and Field Niagara Association will award additional monetary prizes for Association male and female members:

• 1st place Niagara Association member male/female finisher:      $250
• 2nd place Niagara Association member male/female finisher:     $125
• 3rd place Niagara Association member male/female finisher:      $50
• Top Masters (40+) Niagara Association member finisher:            $100

$200 Time Performance Bonus

• Any male member who runs a sub 31:00 receives the bonus
• Any female member who runs a sub 34:00 receives the bonus
• Any Master Member that runs an age graded race at 90% will receive the bonus.

MVP Health Care 5K Awards

• $100 for overall Male and Female Winner.
• Custom Lilac 5K medals to all age group winners
• Medals to top team in each of the 5K Divisions:  (Husband/Wife;  Father/Son;  Father/Daughter;  Mother/Son;  Mother/Daughter;  Brother/Brother;  Sister/Sister;  Brother/Sister;  Grandparent/Grandchild).

Safety Info

• Medical assistance on course for runners
• Bicycles, roller skates, roller blades, skateboards and dogs are prohibited

Refreshments

Post race refreshments will be available at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Buidling which is located within the park at 249 Highland Avenue.

Congratulations to Jeff Eggleston and Salme Kosgei on their victories at this year's Medved Lilac 10K.  Thank you to everyone who came out we had over 2500 participants!!  Congrats also to Steve Strelick and Katie Derusso for their victories in the 5K Family Fun Run.

2009 Race Recap

Joseph Ekuom won his first 10K Championship in a time of 30:13, while Maureen McCandless posted the fastest women's time in 19 years.  For the 5K, Steve Strelick won for the second straight time with a course record 15:35.  Amanda Jinks was the ladies' 5K champion.  (19:19).  This year (with over 2200 participants) marked our largest turnout since 1990.  Click here for our newsletter coverage of the race.

2008 Race Recap

Alene Reta defended his Medved Lilac 10K Championship (31:08), becoming the first men's repeat champion in 11 years.  On the women's side, Katie Danner Aldridge won with a time of 36:24.   Steve Strelick set a course record in the 5K with a time of (15:43) and Amy Fakterowitz was the first female finisher in a time of 19:30.

 2007 Race Recap
